Employment 1,490 young people in Wolverhampton North East have been helped into work by the Governments New Deal Long-term youth unemployment has been cut from 180 to 15 since 1997 660 adults have been helped into work by the New Deal and 850 lone parents have found work through the New Deal Unemployment across Wolverhampton North East as a whole has been cut by -963, a fall of -31 per cent since 1997 Pensioners 12,095 pensioner households receive a winter fuel allowance in Wolverhampton North East 6,811 pensioners are helped by pension credit worth £40.07 a week on average in Wolverhampton North East Families 6,900 families and 12,000 children benefit from tax credits in Wolverhampton North East Every new baby born since 1 September 2002 receives £250 or £500 to invest in a child trust fund of their own.
